synopsis
In His Bold Gaze dissects the case of Armin Meiwes, who castrated, killed and ate a volunteer at his mother’s home in Rotenburg, Germany. Repressed homosexuality and oedipal themes are disinterred using re-enactments, location shots, text readings, and archival footage. The boundary between actors and characters dissipates in searching, unfinished performances.
