synopsis
1598: Eight-year old Lucrezia Orsina Vizzana enters cloistered life in Bologna. Thanks to instruction from a local musician and despite the church's opposition to convent music, she becomes a composer of extraordinary works. But at the moment when Lucrezia's music flourishes, episcopal authorities arrive to investigate allegations of sisterly improprieties with male members of their order, leading the convent to ruination, and poor Lucrezia to madness.
